VISUAL LANGUAGE
Visual language is a phrase used to describe the elements, principles and methods that are used to create and communicate a design.
The Concepts page shows 3d renders of a design, here will be other methods of representation that have been used to show a client a design.

A good layout is essential. It needs to consider the interpretative path, visitor flow, means of escape and all operational issues. Once the design of the layout is complete it needs to be communicated in a manner that is clear and informative.

CONCEPT
The concept design stage is the first true design stage, where the initial design idea is developed and explored.
This stage brings the design into 3d and allows one to first visualize the relationships between its operational.
Years ago, I used to carry out this stage using sketches, elevations and physical 3d models.
However, nowadays I create digital 3d models, which then can be also be examined using fly throughs or VR.

CONCEPT
After the model is created, the materials and textures and lighting is added so that a render can be created. The render is then finished off in photoshop.

DETAIL
At this point the design needs to be translated into detail drawings and specifications, so that contractors can first cost and eventually build.

THE OLYMPIC MUSEUM - LAUSANNE
Below shows some of the details I prepared for the build detail drawings for the main "meet and greet" reception desk at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The design required joinery work faced with Corian. The images on the RHS show the desk in situ in the museum.

MINALIMA - HARRY POTTER STORE - NEW YORK
During 2020, I assisted Cod Steaks with the detail design of the new Mina Lima store housed within the new flagship Harry Potter in New York.

ISTANBUL AQUARIUM - RED SEA AREA
Parts of some of the drawing package for the Red Sea area at the Istanbul Aquarium.
